Scientific literacy and contemporary challenges
The Italian local network host an online seminar on May 11th about data storytelling and participatory processes.
Angela Moreli will share insights about data visualization and storytelling.
Visualizations of scientific data that are both rigorous and compelling at the same time can play a fundamental role in making complex information more accessible to a broader audience, thus supporting informed decision-making, especially when it comes to issues related to sustainability.
Angela Morelli, information designer, named Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, leading the design team for data visualization in the most recent reports for policymakers published by the IPCC, presents some projects in which data visualization and storytelling become instruments of active citizenship.
Co-design is a way of designing such visualizations starting from a deep and shared understanding between designers, experts, cognitive scientists and the public, not only of the messages to be communicated, but above all of the values and needs of who will receive the message.
Angela will show how co-design takes place in the field of information design and data storytelling, and what are the challenges, difficulties, and unexpected surprises.
