Conferences of the European Science Education Researchers Association (ESERA) are organized every two years and they are an essential appointment for researchers in science education not only from Europe but from all over the world.

SEAS, PERECLOS, OSHub and PULCHRA are delighted to present a Symposium about open schooling titled Open Schooling as key concept in the (post-)pandemic world: synthesis and synergies from current EU projects. The four Horizon2020 funded projects present their different approaches to open schooling and discuss how they are re-imagining school science in answering this challenging time by addressing the following specificities:

  • THE TRANSFORMATIVE POTENTIAL OF TOOLS FOR SUPPORTING OPEN SCHOOLING IN SCIENCE EDUCATION (SEAS)
  • ESTABLISHING LOCAL EDUCATION CLUSTERS TO FOSTER INTERACTION BETWEEN SCHOOLS AND RESEARCH IN SOCIETY (PHERECLOS)
  • OPEN SCIENCE HUB: SCHOOL-LED COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT THROUGH RESEARCH AND INNOVATION (OSHub)
  • SCIENCE IN THE CITY: BULIDING PARTICIPATORY URBAN LEARNING COMMUNITY HUBS THROUGH RESEARCH AND ACTIVATION (PULCHRA)

We invite all the researchers who have registered to the conference to watch the four pre-recorded presentations and join the live Q&A session on Thursday 2nd, at 12:30-13:00 (CEST), in room 1.

The session will be chaired by Giulia Tasquier (University of Bologna) and Erik Knain (University of Oslo, SEAS coordinator) that will pose some stimuli coming from discussant Arjen Wals (Wageningen University).
